There are many indications for this test, including looking for any mass or tumour in the abdomen or pelvic area, kidney, liver, pancreas or spleen, to diagnose the cause of any unexplained abdominal pain or swelling, evaluate any disease or infections of the liver, to look for any gall bladder abnormality, to look for any enlarged lymph nodes in the abdominal area etc.
