Radionuclide Therapies
In radionuclide therapies, a radionuclide (mainly beta and alpha emitting) is labelled with certain pharmaceuticals to cure, mitigate, and control many diseased conditions, including thyroid cancer and neuroendocrine tumours, prostate cancer polycythemia vera, etc. They deliver radiation doses to tumour cells and kill them. A low amount of radioiodine is used to treat hyperthyroidism. In radiosynovectomy, painful joint diseases are treated by destroying specific tissues that cause redness and swelling.
