If the Serum PSA is elevated or increasing rapidly or there is an abnormal prostate examination then an ultrasound prostate may be performed. The common indications are Cysts, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), Prostate Carcinoma, Prostatitis, Enlarged seminal vesicles, Stones in the seminal vesicles, and Prostate or ejaculatory ducts among others.
Test information: Fasting NOT needed, full bladder
Reporting: Within 01 hour*
- Fasting is NOT needed.
- Full bladder is required, and you will need to drink a litre of water the hour before your scan.
- During this period, please do not empty your bladder.
