The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the pituitary fossa (sella turcica) is a painless and simple procedure that provides excellent images of the pituitary fossa situated in brain . The indication includes pituitary hypofunction, hormonal hyperfunction, visual field defects, amenorrhea, infertility, diplopia, ptosis, delay in puberty, abnormal height and growth rate, decreased libido, non-specific headache, tumor recurrence, hypoglycemia among others.

- Fasting: 04 hours needed.
- The magnetic field is not harmful but may cause the malfunction of some medical devices. Always inform about any pacemaker, cochlear implant or other medical device implanted or fixed in your body.
- Most orthopaedic implants pose no risk, but always ensure to inform the technologist about the same before starting the procedure.
- Please wear comfortable clothing. Any jewellery, including rings, watches, mobiles, Keys, credit/ debit cards, dentures, hearing aids, wigs, hairpins, and metallic makeup, including mascara, is not permitted.
- This is a contrast study. Please carry a recent Serum Creatinine blood test report. If not done previously, with additional applicable charges, it can be done at the centre. You need not wait extra for the results as both tests go parallelly.
- If the patient is allergic to contrast media, please inform the staff.
- Please carry all previous medical documents.
